We assist those clients who are involved in the exploration, development, and production of primarily oil and gas and those who acquire producing oil and gas properties. Not only do we represent clients in oil and gas matters, but we also represent clients involved in the ownership and transfer of water rights. We also interpret and enforce contract and common law rights on behalf of our clients. The foregoing is accomplished through the following:

  • preparation of drilling, division order, and due diligence acquisition title opinions which are based upon an in-office examination of abstracts and other title materials, as well as "stand-up" opinions rendered by a physical examination of the records of the District and County Clerk’s Office or by a due diligence review of company records and files;
  • preparation and review of title curative documents;
  • negotiation and preparation of purchase and sale agreements and attendant due diligence documentation relative to the sale and purchase of oil and gas properties;
  • preparation of general oil and gas assignments, deeds, leases, contracts, and agreements for oil and gas companies and individual surface and mineral owners;
  • representation of clients involved in the ownership, development, and purchase and sale of subsurface water;
  • resolution or litigation of disputes involved in oil and gas and subsurface water matters;
  • representation of clients before the Railroad Commission of Texas; the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the Texas General Land Office, and the New Mexico Oil Conservation Division; and
  • expert witness assistance in various oil and gas and legal malpractice lawsuits.
